Kate Middleton and Prince William Make Their First Appearance Since Their Engagement

For their first public event since announcing their engagement last month, Kate Middleton and fiancé Prince William attended a charity fund-raiser. StyleList tells us that she wore her go-to colors of the moment, black and bridal ivory, in a Temperley London dress from the British designer's Fall 2009 collection.

Middleton sported an elegant, cropped fitted black jacket over an above-the-knee ivory dress to attend the Thursford Christmas Spectacular in Norfolk, England, on Dec. 18.

The event benefits the Teenage Cancer Trust, and the striking couple planned to meet with some of the charity's benefactors during an intermission according to The Daily Mail.

The princess-to-be's dress was noteworthy for its beautiful detail work, which included fabric cutouts along the neckline, accented by beading and small crystals. A slim black cummerbund, along with the jacket's flattering cut, accented Middleton's waist. The dress' skirt appeared to have two or three layers of fabric, which gave it fullness as the future princess walked in her black pumps.

Prince William wore a classic, well-cut navy suit, red patterned tie and striped shirt most likely by Turnbull and Asser, the official royal shirtmakers ..

Report: Prince Harry's Affair With DC Housewife

While much has been made of the engagement of his brother, Prince William, and fiancee Kate Middleton, it seems as though Prince Harry's no slouch when it comes to the dating game.

According to RadarOnline, the ginger-haired royal wooed and won over 'The Real Housewives of DC' cast member Catherine Ommanney, who was living in her native England at the time. During the period in which the alleged affair took place, the prince was also romantically linked to Chelsy Davy, with whom he split for good in 2010.
Ommanney, who was then separated from her first husband, would allegedly arrange intimate dates with the prince, who provided chauffeurs to and from the location of their trysts. Ommanney's former nanny, Monica Herrero, tells Radar, "Her daughters would tell me, 'This is the car that Prince Harry sends for mummy.'"

Despite the implied discretion that comes with such a high-profile relationship, Ommanney would reportedly spill all the juicy details the next day. "Although she was my boss, when she was really happy she would share things with me, like what happened with Prince Harry," says Herrero.

Although royal relationships may conjure up princess fantasies for some, it seems as though the pair's rendezvous were often less than romantic.

"Catherine told me one time that she kissed Prince Harry in a bathroom," Herrero tells Radar.

Ommanney, who was allegedly dating other men at the time, eventually left the U.K. for America after marrying childhood sweetheart Charles Ommanney, a photojournalist, in the summer of 2008. The pair have since separated.

How Attack on Prince Charles Will Change Royal Wedding Plans

From the moment the royal wedding was announced last month, Prince William has made it clear he wants this to be the "people's wedding" and has taken deliberate steps to ensure all Britons feel welcome to share in his and Kate Middleton's special day. For starters, he made sure the wedding fell on a Friday (April 29) so that all his countrymen can have a three-day weekend. However, after the ugly attack on his father, Prince Charles, during last week's student protests in London, changes will have to be made.

"William is devastated that the Palace is insisting on major changes," a royal insider tells me. "At this point there will still be open top carriages taking members of the family from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey. But now the gathering crowd will be kept so far away from the action that they won't be able to much of anything."
I'm told William is putting up a good fight to keep the wedding as open as possible but that most likely, "he's not going to win this battle."

Prince Charles and wife Camilla's car was attacked in London by a mob of angry students protesting sharp hikes in University fees. Since the shocking episode, a formal investigation into the safety of the family has been launched which sources say will alter the way the family can interact with the public.

"Security experts are suggesting that bullet proof cars replace the current fleet of Royal vehicles and carriages," an insider tells me. "Also, the famous Royal Walkabout, where members of the family interact with the public, is a thing of the past. Now it's just much too dangerous."

The Royals have long resisted advice on security measures that would further remove them from the public, but in this dangerous world that we all live in, it's hard to argue that the young Prince is going to have to take a step back.Filed under: Highbrow - Naughty But Nice With Rob Shuter Tags: Prince William, royal wedding
