Oprah Announces 'Your OWN Show' Contestants

Oprah Winfrey's new network has announced the 10 contestants competing on 'Your OWN Show: Oprah's Search for the Next TV Star.'

The would-be hosts include a travel guide who's in a wheelchair, a comedian who thinks the U.S. needs a gay best friend and a businesswoman aiming to make a show about money both informative and fun. The finalists were chosen from more than 9,500 online audition videos and thousands more hopefuls at open casting calls, the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announced Thursday. More than 143 million votes were submitted online.

The winner, whose show will air on Winfrey's cable channel, will be selected on the show by judges including Dr. Phil McGraw and Gayle King, who will subject them to a range of TV-host-related challenges.

With Nancy O'Dell and Carson Kressley hosting, 'Your OWN Show' premieres Jan. 7. OWN launches Saturday. The contestants include:

?Zach Anner, of Austin, Texas, a globe-trotter in a wheelchair who wants to host a show for people who never thought they were physically capable of traveling.

?Elizabeth Espinosa, a TV news reporter from Los Angeles who wants to share what she's learned helping raise a younger brother who is learning disabled.

?Aunt Flora, of Cincinnati, who specializes in Southern cuisine.

?Leigh Koechner, a Valley Village, Calif., mother of four and the wife of actor David Koechner who wants to host a talk show.

?Kristina Kuzmic-Crocco, of Alhambra, Calif., who wants to demonstrate on her food show that "cooking doesn't have to be perfect as long as it's fun, easy and delicious."

?Ryan O'Connor, of West Hollywood, Calif., who says he wants to be the country's gay best friend. "If a variety show and a traditional talk show had a baby, that'd be my show," he said.

?Tony Roach, an Abilene, Texas, minister who dropped out of high school to live on the streets before getting his doctoral degree in divinity.

?Terey Summers, a comedic motivational speaker for youth from Phoenix.

?Alicia Taylor, of Las Vegas, who started a mortgage company and says, "People need a practical and fun show about all things financial."

?Eric Warren, an expert in the kitchen from Lawndale, Calif., who has dropped 62 pounds and wants to host a cooking show that has America losing weight along with him.

Hugh Hefner's Bride-To-Be, Crystal Harris, Flashes Her Diamond on Twitter

Crystal Harris is showing off her new ice just in time for the winter chill.

The 24-year-old May-September fiancée of Playboy mogul Hugh Hefner posted a picture of her impressive round-diamond engagement ring on Twitter today. Hefner had popped the question to Harris over the holidays.

"For those of you asking to see it here it is....My engagement ring from my love @ Hugh Hefner," Harris tweeted.

She then posted a close-up of the whopper ring, which needs no enhancement. It appears to be a multicarat round, brilliant-cut diamond set in a platinum band with smaller-diamond accents.

Hefner surprised Harris, his No. 1 girlfriend for more than a year, when they exchanged gifts on Christmas Eve.

Harris reportedly gave Hef a framed picture of their dog.

The couple has not announced a wedding date, but the impending marriage will be the third for the 84-year-old Hefner and a first for Harris, who is young enough to be his great-granddaughter.

In case anyone's wondering how Hefner's long-suffering former main squeeze Holly Madison feels about the engagement, the Playboy is likely to find out soon. He tweeted today she'll be filming an episode of her reality show, "Holly's World," at L.A.'s Playboy Mansion next week. Get More on StyleList

PopEater's New Year's Resolutions for 2011 (We'll Keep Them, We Swear!)

Pop Culture New Year's Resolutions 2011
Sure, Team PopEater has New Year's resolutions about dieting and exercising and Facebooking less at work. But since we eat, breathe and live pop culture, our real resolutions are about forgetting guilty pleasure TV shows, giving great pop artists second chances, and dropping the deadbeat celebs we've embraced too long.

Read more than a dozen resolutions from the PopEater family after the jump! And have a happy, safe New Year.

Jason Kaufman, editor-in-chief: "I promise to handle my post-'Mad Men' depression better."
I will do all in my power to let 2011 be the year I don't sink into a month-long funk the minute the next 'Mad Men' season finale wraps. A related resolution is to try and not despise most other shows on TV just because they aren't 'Mad Men,' which is a pattern that has only escalated as 'Mad Men' has grown in greatness.

Rob Shuter, Naughty But Nice columnist: "My resolution is to be in the same restaurant as Tiger Woods when he goes on his first date post-divorce."
Can you imagine being that poor girl? She is going to be flooded by the press the second her name comes out! Plus, a piece of advice for the lady: If Tiger texts or even looks at his Blackberry during dinner ... get up and walk out. We know he's not texting his mother!

Denise Warner, editor: 'I'm going to stop buying Taylor Swift's songs on iTunes.'
I'm tired of the "nerdy" girl gets the "jock" fantasies she croons about. (By the way, that never happens in real life unless you look like Taylor Swift when you take your glasses off.) More importantly, however, I don't want to see her "I can't believe I've won this award after I've already won 12 other awards for basically the same thing" face ever again. It's annoying. I know the loss of my measly $1.29 won't stop the 13-year-olds (and the industry) who obsess over the Swift, but at least I can say I tried.

Amber James, editor: "I have to quit you, 'Glee.'"
When 'Glee' first aired, I fell madly in love with the musical series. But after watching the Britney Spears and 'Rocky Horror' themed episodes this season, I'm over the show-stopping gimmicks. The plot is strained -- how many more times can Sue Sylvester try to oust the Glee club? Seriously, the high school students developed a performance of KISS's 'Shout It Out Loud' -- complete with pyrotechnics -- in less than 48 hours. They are unstoppable, and everyone will continue to live happily ever after. The jig is up, and I'm bringing down the curtain on this Glee club once and for all.

Khloe KardashianMaggie Coughlan, editor: "I'm over Kim Kardashian and I'm adopting Khloe."
Don't get me wrong, Kim has built an empire for her family and herself. But she's is everywhere! I'm ready for Khloe Kardashian (pictured at left) to take center stage. Her attitude and sense of humor make her seem a little more interesting than her sisters -- and by interesting, I mean the Kardashian I'd most like to have a drink with.

John Mitchell, editor: "I'm breaking up with Britney Spears"

Lately -- and I blame the access social networks like Twitter and Facebook give us to celebrities -- I've been unable to separate Britney Spears the person from Britney Spears the pop star (a problem I oddly never had before). She does herself no favors by tweeting things like, "yawl can kiss my lily white southern Louisiana a**!" So, sadly, after a decade by her side, I think it's time Britney and I take a break. A relationship shouldn't be this hard, Brit. And with new albums from Lady Gaga and Beyonce due in 2011, my pop calendar is pretty packed; I just don't have the energy to love Britney the way I did ... not when Gaga and B make it so easy.

Zach Dionne, editor: "I'm finally watching 'The Wire.'"
And I'm going to force myself to do it before rewatching 'Lost' with my lady, who has never seen it. I swear! 'The Wire,' here I come! 2011 is, finally, the year I get my membership card to the Best Show of All-Time Is 'The Wire,' Hands-Down club. (Um...can I borrow someone's 'Wire' DVDs?)

Elizabeth Yun, editor/Celebrity One-Stop queen: "I'm watching more network television."
What? No cursing? No sex? No heads getting lopped off? Family-friendly network television has never been my thing, but non-HBO/Showtime series like 'The Walking Dead,' 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' and 'Mad Men' are easing me in. I'm finally ready to admit that a show doesn't need all the swearing, violence and T&A to be good and it's about time I made the dreaded transition to full-on network shows. But nothing's ever going to compete with #%@!ing 'Dexter.'

Christo Varghese, editor:
"I will now follow directors Darren Aronofsky, Christopher Nolan, and David Fincher to the ends of the earth."
Three of my all-time favorite directors made some of their best work in 2010 -- Nolan's dream-stealing 'Inception', Aronofsky's thrilling 'Black Swan,' and Fincher's excellent Facebook movie, 'The Social Network.' From here on out, forget the endless Hollywood sequels (unless these guys do 'em) and the overhyped but underwhelming 3D productions -- if I see a trailer or poster with one of these fine directors' names on it, I'm getting in line outside a theater right then and there.

Miley CyrusSarah Crow, editorial assistant: "I'm through with Miley Cyrus."
Even though she's naked and doing something creepy most of the time, I still don't want to watch. Also, other than dressing up as a giant bird and teaching her little sister how to re-enact the 'Private Dancer' video, what does she even do any more?

Jett Wells, editorial assistant: "I want to get into 'Community.'"
Because I'll watch anything with Ken Jeong in it.

Christine Fenno, contributing editor: "I resolve to give J.Lo and Steven Tyler a chance."
Years ago, there was a newsy-satire show I liked, hosted by Craig Kilborn. It was amusing. One day, 'The Daily Show' changed, big-time, with a wiseacre named Jon Stewart installed as anchor, and I think we can agree he made the show ... oh, just a smidge better. Who's to say that can't happen with 'American Idol'? Here's hoping Steven Tyler offers the kind of barely coherent insights we once loved Paula for. And Jennifer Lopez has it in her to intimidate unworthy singers and pinpoint winners like a certain Brit who made 'Idol' worth watching. (If the new judges bomb, well, we can always try 'X-Factor' in the fall!)

Catherine Donaldson-Evans, freelance reporter: "I vow to start watching 'Dexter.' "
As if the show's premise -- a likable, save-the-world sort of guy leads a double life as a psychopathic serial killer who knocks off other killers -- isn't reason enough, there's also the allure of the cast's sordid back story. Where else can you see costars who play brother and sister onscreen fall in love offscreen, get married, stick by each other through the lead actor's battle with cancer, then separate without explanation while staving off rumors that said lead actor had a fling with an actress playing an onscreen love interest? Are you following? All we need are amnesia and an evil twin and we've got a real-life plotline rivaling that of 'Days of Our Lives'! How are stars spending their holidays? See our video!

Kanye West Graphic 'Monster' Video Leaks Online

Kanye WestKanye West's video for the track 'Monster' has leaked all over the Internet. The six-minute video for the rapper's latest single is supposedly incomplete, but the footage available online packs a big punch.

Kanye West's 'Monster' video is somewhat of a creepy mini-film, a modern 'Thriller' with enough gore, zombies feasting on flesh, decapitated heads, and blood to make Michael Jackson turn over in his grave. 'Monster' features cameos from Jay-Z, Rick Ross, Bon Iver and Nicki Minaj.

Minaj could be considered more of a co-star to Kanye's lead. In one scene, Minaj is shown with gold fangs, acting as a dominatrix to another version of herself in a white dress, wearing her signature pink wig. Watch the video after the jump. [Warning: Graphic imagery and strong language]

'Monster' is from West's latest album 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy'. The album debuted atop the Billboard charts in November, selling close to 500,000 copies in its first week.

ABBA Fuel Reunion and Royal Wedding Performance Rumors

ABBAABBA singer Agnetha Faltskog has fueled rumors of the band reuniting for Prince William's wedding next year by saying that they would be open to reforming for special occasions.

Swedish news website The Local reports that Faltskog said in a magazine interview that one-off events, such as performances for charity, could see the group reunite.

Faltskog told M Magazine, "A reunion, an occasional opportunity, maybe in connection with a charity event, I believe we could consider it.

"We would not reunite for a tour like the Rolling Stones and other old bands do now. However, I could see us doing something together in the future. It is just a feeling I have that it would be fun to get together, talk a bit about the past and maybe perform together."

Digital Spy reports that Bookmaker Ladbrokes has laid down odds of 66-1 on the band playing at the wedding.

The latest swipe at the state of Aniston's career comes from Rupert Everett, who while discussing how film executives favor certain actors and continue to employ them despite repeated box office failure, told BBC Radio, "OK, something will go wrong, like Jennifer Aniston will have one too many total flops, but she's still a member of that club. And she will still manage to ... like a star forming in the universe, things will swirl around her and it will suddenly solidify into another vital tasteless rom-com, a little glitter next to the Crab Nebula."

That's some statement from the star of 'The Next Best Thing,' which grossed just $15 million domestically on a budget of $25 million. But the thing is, while many of her more recent films haven't exactly lit up the box office, Aniston hasn't had a true "flop" (that is, a film that hasn't recouped its cost) in nearly a decade. The same cannot be said for Everett or, well, the majority of Hollywood stars these days. While she's not tossing out mega-hits Will Smith-style, Aniston may well be among the more reliable performers in Tinseltown.
Everett certainly isn't the only person out there deriding Aniston's movie career as a failed one. The same tabloid articles that paint her as a lonely cat lady go to great pains to make sure readers know her last few films haven't performed the way many of her earlier endeavors -- like 'Bruce Almighty' ($242 million, domestic), 'The Break-Up' ($118 million) and 'Marley & Me' ($143 million) -- did.

How sad for her, right? 'The Bounty Hunter' only made $67 million in the U.S. and 'The Switch' tanked at $27 million. And she spent Christmas surrounded by incredible wealth and friends alone. All she wants is to be loved, and even moviegoers have turned their backs on her. Poor Jennifer Aniston: she doesn't even have a successful career anymore to console her forever broken heart.

It makes for a great story, doesn't it? Well, that's exactly what it is.

It might interest Everett and others to know that 'Bounty Hunter' cost only $40 million to produce, and with a foreign gross roughly equal to its domestic haul, Aniston's miserable failure made $136 million worldwide. 'The Switch,' Aniston's summer comedy with Jason Bateman, found itself in a similar, albeit on a smaller scale, situation, with a total gross of $47 million on a $19 million budget.

(Everett's last film, the $8 million British flick 'Wild Target,' made, um, $108,589 domestically and just under $3 million in foreign markets. People in glass houses ...)

Everyone seems to conveniently forget that 'Marley & Me' was released barely two years ago and that the actress was a major draw for 2009's ensemble comedy 'He's Just Not That Into You,' a $40 million film that earned just under $94 million here and another $84 million abroad.

None of the above is meant to say the films were any good or particularly memorable, but it is misleading to declare them full-on failures. Because she's headlined her share of box office smashes, when one of her films disappoints, it's just easier to pile on the actress and declare it a bomb than to call it what it really is -- a letdown.

The last Aniston movie that can truly be called a flop is 2001's 'Rock Star,' a film that cost $57 million but only grossed $19 million worldwide. (Her 2009 indie 'Management' did dismally at the box office, but budget information for the film was unavailable.) 'Derailed' grossed nearly three times its small budget, and 'Rumor Has It' eventually pulled in north of $88 million worldwide.

Even if Aniston's appeal is limited (it's true that she's resisted moving too far from her rom-com comfort zone), the actress has been smart to stick with low-to-medium budget fair that she can almost always push into the black. That, Mr. Everett, is why Jennifer Aniston continues to land movie roles: she has proven herself to be reliably profitable, and that's not something every actor can say.

Consider the case of Matt Damon, an actor beloved by many. No one is out shaming Damon whenever his films under-perform, but he has served up more true-blue bombs in the last few years than he's had hits. The Clint Eastwood-directed 'Hereafter' received a chilly reception at the box office, pulling in just $32 million of its $50 million production budget; 'Bourne' director Paul Greengrass' 'Green Zone' tanked, recouping just $35 million (domestic) of its $100 million cost; and 'All the Pretty Horses' earned $18 million worldwide on a $57 million budget. Outside of his trusty cash-cow 'Bourne' and 'Ocean's' franchises, Damon, like Aniston, has also starred in a slew of profitable-if-middling performers, including 'Invictus,' 'The Informant,' 'The Good Shepherd' and 'Syriana.'

Damon is, however, also a twice Oscar-nominated actor (and screenplay winner) whose films tend to receive acclaim even when then they don't rake in major cash. And when he hits one out of the park -- as he did with 'The Departed,' 'The Talented Mr. Ripley' and the current 'True Grit' -- he does it right, yielding both critical raves and box office dollars. Aniston is an easier target than Damon because, with the exception of 'The Good Girl' and 'Friends with Money,' she rarely finds herself bathing in glowing reviews.

Oh, and then there's also a little known actress named Angelina Jolie, whose films mostly tend to rake it in at the box office. The press just loves to compare Aniston to her for some reason. You see, its apparently fun to call Aniston a failure every time Jolie scores a hit (a la 'Salt,' 'Wanted' and 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith') because five long years ago Angie might have (or might not have) had something to do with the end of Aniston's marriage to Brad Pitt. And because no one bothers to actually check the facts before saying or writing something (here's lookin' at you, Rupert), it's easy to perpetuate the myth that Aniston's career is flailing when it's really far from it.

Was this article written by her PR or Jennifer herself? The films named are Jim C, Owen W and Vince V's movies. You could have put Courteney Cox or Lisa Kudrow in any of them but they are not given the opportunity as they did not marry the right men.

The only movie she carried was Management and that earned under 1 million. So Rup's is on the button.

So basically, you just ignored all the facts and statistics stated in the article that showed how and why Rupert Everett was wrong in ten different ways, just to perpetuate a stereotype??????? WAY TO BE A CRITICAL THINKER!!!!!!! CAN SOMEONE SAY MORON?????

@Lakmi I agree with you and I add it's so pathetic how Jen's pr team have to go on the Internet and insult posters when they don't agree that Jen is all that. Sorry but it's not our job to kiss Jen's @ss. I think Jen's career is a failure and if it was not for her spreading money all around she would be gone by now.

I love all the pathetic housewives who defend Aniston blindly. She is just an awful actress. Plus, her body still looks fine but her face looks like the head of shovel.

All she wants is to be loved, and even moviegoers have turned their backs on her. Poor Jennifer Aniston: she doesn't even have a successful career anymore to console her forever broken heart.I love this , So does My boyfriend .he is almost 11year older than me .i met him via age'lessmate.c'om a nice place for seeking age le ss love.which gives you a chance to make your life better and open opportunities for you to meet the attractive young girls and treat you like a king. Maybe you wanna check it out or tell your friends..

By what measure is she NOT a failure? Her movies are flops and somebody stole her husband.

I'm willing to bet Nico, that if she is measured against you and probably all of us in here, her life is not a failure. If in fact her husband was "stolen", than who failed there? You seem to fail as human being

What exactly has Jennifer done for the last 6 years to deserve peoples wrath? Before this time nobody insulted her this way. What has she done??? Someone explain your blind hate and bitterness toward Jen.

Thursday 30 DecemberBy ChecLowest Rank Vote downVote upReport this

Are you seriously kidding me? What? How much did Jen pay you to write this load of crap? Better still, how many posters of her do you have pinned up on your wall.
She's an awful actress. Ruppert had the nerve to say what a lot of people are thinking but probably too scared to say.

Want to ring in the New Year with your favorite stars? Well, celebs are hosting parties and headlining concerts across the country to ring in 2011 and guess what? You're invited! From Jay-Z's Las Vegas blowout to Kourtney Kardashian's rooftop soiree, here are PopEater's picks for the biggest New Year's Eve parties. >>
? Kim Kardashian is throwing a party at Marquee Nightclub at TAO in Las Vegas. Rumors claim that Kim is banking $125,000 to ring in the New Year and give a midnight toast. Meanwhile, her sister Kourtney is hosting a rooftop party in Miami at the Gansevoort.

?Jay-Z will be performing along with Coldplay at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The event will be a star-studded affair and set to include appearances by Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Alex Rodriguez and Ellen Pompeo.

? 'Entourage' star Adrian Grenier And The Honey Brothers are set to perform at the Hudson Hotel in NYC. There are also other parties throughout the various bars and lounges in the hotel.

? MTV will be ringing in the New Year with comedian Whitney Cummings, a performance by Flo Rida and some fist-pumping action from some of the 'Jersey Shore' cast. Sadly, Snooki will not be falling from the sky in a human-sized hamster ball.

? In Los Angeles, David Arquette is giving guests a sneak peek at his new nightclub, Arquette & Beacher's Madhouse in The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The party will feature burlesque dancers and Oompa Loompas.
